Hey Norm! It was good to see you at Baja...I did not get a chance to intro you to everyone, next time! Was a little late getting out there with the new lady then had to go eat! I will probably by on the Confederate next Thurs and should be out there a bit more earlier!

Love your car! :D Looks good with the new rubber:thumbup:

LOL! I just wish. :D

Guys, Sweet is pulling your leg. Mine was down at the other end, in the sub line of rides that cost less than a house. I was looking at a couple of 60's era Cobras and completely missed this one.

BUT, he sure knows what I would like, right down to the license plate!

But what Khuk nut does it belong to...........that is one sweet car!!

I think Sweet's been busy with PhotoShop! It's clear the guy isn't really a Khuk Nut, or he'd be driving a Kia and sending all his $ to Reno...:D

Well Sweet had me going there for a while as I was wondering when you got this and whether you still had the Marauder. :o :D
Besides you fit in the Marauder and I don't see you fitting in the Shelby unless you have gotten a lot smaller.:p ;) :D
But while we're on the subject of your car how about bringing us up to date on it with all the new add ons you've installed or had installed? IIRC it was pretty warm from the factory!

Well, interesting... I just saw one of these in the parking lot at my work in red and wasn't sure exactly what it was. I'm familar with the Shelby name, but usually associated with Ford performance cars. Is this a complete Shelby project?

Thats beautiful, they have come a long way since this one was made.

I'd like to see the engine on it. This one has 800 horses

This one went at auction a few months ago for $5.5M

Here's some info on the Shelby Series 1 I found. http://www.rsportscars.com/eng/cars/shelby_series1.asp

But while you're there, if you go, be sure and click on the "Home" button and check out some of the other cars they have listed and especially the Bugatti!!!! A W16 engine with Beaucoup of horsepower!!!!
The little Opel cars weren't slouches either.

But it is pure sacrilege of what they did with the Shelby Series 1. No longer a big Ford V8 but a..."The Shelby Series 1 is powered by a specially-modified aluminum Oldsmobile Aurora V8 with DOHC and 4 valves per cylinder.":( :foot:

WOW!!!! I wonder how much the insurance was for that one ride?!?!?! I saw that strange gauge when I checked out the closeup of the dash and wondered what it was for, never saw one that showed how much horsepower you were using at any given time before!

I was watching a TV show earlier this evening where a fellow was building what looked like a smaller version of a Formula 1 car using a Honda Civic engine. Talk about FAST!!!! All of the new neat cars today totally beat the tar outta my old '57 Ford with the 312 ci with a .030" overbore, lightly cammed, and heads milled engine I had in '61!!!!
Shucks even our little inline 4 cyl Toyota Camry engine packs the same horsepower that the 265 ci Chevy V8 packed in '57 at 160 horses.
And with the accelerator being a drive by wire unit it's sometimes hard to leave a stoplight without screeching the tires just a bit, and especially in the summer with a bit of sand on the asphalt.:D
I can't even begin to imagine what the acceleration in that Bugatti would be!!!!   :D

Hey, thanks for asking Yvsa! My favorite subject... Yep, still have it, but am trying not to drive it every day. I have an '01 Taurus I'm fixing up for my daughter, and am trying to get my monies worth by commuting in that.

The MM is a lot of fun though! Stock wasn't bad at 320 HP, but I added an SCT tune and took off the top speed limiter, then Denso iridium plugs, cooler motorcraft 180 degree stat, Granatelli coil connectors, PHP cold air kit, Meziere 55 GPM electric water pump, underdrive pullies, art carr deep finned trans pan and Level II trans rebuild, rear-engine cooling mod, PI 3000 stall torque converter, 4:10 gears and T/A performance stud & girdle kit, metal matrix composite tuned drive shaft and loop, etc. A bunch of other cosmetic stuff, plus Viper alarm w/ remote start and tilt sensor, which is a necessity around here.

The car is still N/A (normally aspirated), but had I the bread I would have forgone several of the mods I did and S/C'd it, if I could get that to pass emissions.

My biggest beef about living here in the PRK is that I can't get it over 400 HP until I swap out the entire exhaust system, and other than Megs delete tips I've done nothing or it won't pass smog. In 48 other states I could add a bolt on Cobra exhaust with high-flow cats and probably pick up close to 40 HP immediately.

With me in it it weighs 4500 pounds, but it's got plenty of get up and go, and the shifts are kick-a$$ now that the tranny is so beefed up and it has the higher stall TC. I love to drive it, but at about 16 MPG around town it's not exactly economical. It has basically the same aluminium block DOHC 32 valve V8 you were talking about above.

BTW, the 60's era Cobra I was looking at was a hand built model with aluminium monocoque construction with a built from the ground up engine that puts out 600 HP! The guy is selling it (if anyone's interested) for $65K, which is a fair price considering that I know the kit cars were selling for nearly $60K back in 1992!

My one vice (after knives...) :D

Here's a couple of publicity pics from Mercury. Have to dig out some of my own...
