I posess a CCW permit here in NC and would like to build a legal carry knife for close up protection, but this state seems to be hard nosed about its laws and rather vague which is a dangerous combination for someone to follow the law. In reading some Knife Forum entries in researching my situation, I find that some states, even NY, cut some slack with accross the open hand measurement requirement of the blade. I can't find any slack in current North Carolina law. Being realatively new to knifemaking, , I would like some input regarding any nuances of NC law that provide guidelines for carrying a legal ridgid blade. I understand that any information I receive is only the writer's take on the subject and in no way reflects law.

Everyone have a blessed week--
WARSHARD

Statute 14-269a:
It shall be unlawful for any person willfully and intentionally to carry concealed about his person any bowie knife, dirk, dagger, slung shot, loaded cane, metallic knuckles, razor, shurikin, stun gun, or other deadly weapon of like kind, except when the person is on the person's own premises.

Remember, your "CCW" permit is only for handguns. It does not cover other weapons.
