North Fork hard to open

I got a new North Fork about a month ago. It is great. But I've noticed after I wash it the knife is very stiff opening and closing. It is like water gets into the axis and rubs against the mechanism. It does seem to resolve itself after it had had a good while to dry. My mini grip does not do this though and is the same consistent smoothe opening all the time. Any thoughts?

Canned air aka keyboard duster is a good item to have, or an air compressor. Reoil the pivot and you shouldn't have any problems.

I had the same issue with a new mini-onslaught. Great knife but just as you described it would almost seize up when it got wet or I cleaned it. I dry it thoroughly and apply a few drops of mineral oil, which seems to help. The problem occurs less frequently now that I have used it more and the knife is getting broken in.

Thanks for the tip. Is that common? like i said, my mini grip does not do it.

I think it can be common. If the knife gets some grit from pocket carry or assembly can make the it not smooth. The oil/grease from the factory should be displacing any water, so I can't figure out what would explain that. Try and back the pivot off just a little, like 1/16th of a turn.

you make a good point about getting broken. i have a can of air for computer cleaner i will spray in there. and some gun cleaner i may put a drop or two in.

I was also thinking, this knife has wood scales, could they be slightly swollen? That may impact it, since G10 and other phenolics are impervious to humidity with the possible exception of some canvas micarta.

You make a good point though. They are very stable but there is a minor bit of swelling you can feel. I'll pay attention to that.
