So the weather was going to be great, and I wanted to get out of the house. It's been almost 8 weeks since I broke my arm in two places and 3 ribs. I have been sitting on my butt! When I felt good enough to start moving around, then the wife and kids got a terrible bug, so I was playing nurse maid. I had the chance today, so I went.

I had heard of this place but had never been there. It's about 70 miles north of me. They say it's about 1.8 miles to the drawings. I brought my snowshoes, but really hoped not to need them.
It starts with a portage, I'd guess it 80-100 rods. For those who don't know, portage is an old Indian word for "up hill both ways" though this one was more up hiller one way then the other. Here we finally see the first lake. I'd guess it was 1/2 mile across this lake to the next little portage. This one only 10 rods or so. They was a little open water where a creek ran between the lakes. This didn't scare me even a little!
Right there in the middle of the portage was this fat wood stump. I wonder how many people walk by it and not know the value it has. I left it well enough alone. The only thing I took was a couple pics.

Here's some of the views.
This is starting to look promising!
And there they are!

Some ice hanging

Don't think I'd like to try to batton that one!

Here's that rock I didn't climb, even though I wanted to. I stopped and had my lunch by it though .
Didn't see any wildlife except for about 5 mile before the trail head I saw a big, tall timber wolf trot across the road. They are always impressive to see, though I wouldn't mind seeing fewer of them.

I have to admit that I was glad to be back at the car. It's amazing how fast you get soft!

Nice run:thumbup: My son and his girl were there over Valentines day; thanks to his buddy, you were standing over an ice chisel stuck in the mud. Did you see this on the way in?

Not seeing anything. Small world!

It's on the East side of South Hegman. the trail I'm assuming went up the west side. I had planned to camp that weekend, but -25 changed my mind.:D

Looks like a good time.

Last time I was there it was -31F. Headed out after a bowl of oatmeal at the Chocolate Moose.

But at least the ice sculptures weren't melting in town.
