Hi,

Thought I'd share these photos taken from the bridge near our house tonight (about an hour ago). We don't often see Northern lights this clearly in the city (Winnipeg, Manitoba)

WOW!!!!! That's just amazing. I always wanted to see the them, but to have them that close to home would be astounding!!!

great image! I was in AK in the wrong season to see the northern lights :(

Thanks for sharing, absolutely amazing. That's definitely on my bucket list, have to catch a nice evening watching the Aurora Borealis at least once before I go.

It was bit of a project to get the photo. We were out walking the dog, and a passerby said we should check out the northern lights from the bridge, which we did. I ran home to get the camera and tripod, only to find the battery was dead once I set it up on the bridge. I ran home again to get the spare battery, which I couldn't find (much wailing and gnashing of teeth involved). So I took my small digital (Leica D-Lux 4), and ran back... worried because northern lights are fleeting. Went to set it up on the tripod, but the baseplate for the tripod was on the other camera back home!! It was minus 24 C with wind chill, and my bare hands were unhappy. :)

I took this pic by resting the camera precariously on the railing of the bridge.
 
Seeing the nothern lights is +1 on my bucket list. I have always loved being outside at night and watching the sky, and I would love to see the sky light up like that.

Man, I will guarantee you there is nothing like that here in Ohio . . . Great shot, "Absolutely stunning", quote from my wife looking over my shoulder . . :)

Surprisingly in the past few years I have seen the Northern Lights several times here in Nebraska. Unfortunately I have only managed a couple poor pictures of them with my old camera a couple years ago. Once they filled half the sky here, it was truly amazing. Hopefully they visit us here again soon so I can capture some truly good shots.

Your picture is fantastic, lots of varying color and shape in that image. That is a shot to be proud of!
