Picked up a Mayo B173-00-0 Buck/Mayo Northshore today.Nice knife with a couple of quibles - the main one being that a fair number of edges other than the blade's ( which is plenty sharp) are sharp. I seem to run into this more and more - from a variaty(spl mch) of makers. Got me to thinking - is modern metal shaping equipent very good at cutting out parts - but is hand work required to knock the edge back on those parts once made?
Any of you tool and die types - can you give me some insight as to why this is? I suspect that a finishing step has been eliminated as not being percieved as needed or that for some reason machinery to automate this process is not avialabe.( more spl).

Audio, Yes these sharp edges must be knocked off (sanded off) after a CNG Plasma cutter profiles the blades ( cuts them out). DM
