Does anyone have details on the Northstar by Bark river Knife and tool? In particular I am interested in the dimensions of the knife ( thickness, depth, and length). I found a write up in hoods forum but this information was absent. Thanks for any information you can provide.

Looks like you want to go to knifeforums.com and ask this question. They have a dedicated BRK&T forum and there's been some heavy questioning about this knife.

They have the scan of the drawing but no dimensions. It's supposed to be 12% bigger than my Highland which you have seen and handled. OAL is 8.5 inches officially from Mike Stewart.

Also appears that treemanknives.com is getting most of the first run. They could answer your question.

Outdoor Magazine's site has an article and a bunch of pictures. That's supposed to be a prototype it seems and it was from those and othere tests they decided to upscale it a bit. The proto was of the same general dimensions as the Highland with some tweaks for grind, angle of attack and such.

They'll only be doing about 3 runs of the Northstar a year so get 'em while you can.

Mike Steward did post dimensions. Just stumbled on them:

Don't hold me to these exact callouts. I am not quite finished.
Reid, Sgt Mike and Dave are still working on minor changes.

Overall Length: 8.55"
Blade length from plunge line: 4.125"
Blade length from front of the handle slab:4.45"
Handle slab length: 4.150"
Blade thickness: .170"

There is also a projection on the back of the knife for a lanyard. This will not add bulk to the handle when using with a lanyard. The slab will taper fron the back to the front to maximize edge control and gripping strength.

The standard handle will most likely be black canvas micarta but there will be some other slabs avalible in different materials that you can interchange yourself. The slabs will be removable for cleaning or for making a spear. I plan on using screw sets to attach the handle and two allen keys will be included.

That's the plan but all is subject to small changes or improvements as we refine the final knife.

Best regards,
Mike........
