I just ordered this beauty last week from KSF and am now holding my breath that it makes it through Canada customs.

It is legal to own preban elephant ivory in Canada but customs is always a risk with knives as they tend to confiscate anything they don't "like" although usually it is "scary" tacticals that can be "flipped" open
This was just so beautiful that I had to take the chance.
I love the pattern ,I love the D2 and ivory is the best handle material there is.

I would love to hear from any other Northwoods or ivory handled knife owners especially with photos.

I found a few threads on ivory northwoods but all the photos were long gone.:(

If there are any Canadians out there who have had an ivory knife come through customs OK I would be VERY pleased to hear that!!!

I have the same knife in jigged bone that came from the USA (Northwoods themselves) and had no problem. And it's a beauty. Just picked up another one (Queen version, same maker though) in a trade as a user. They are a great using pattern. The mechanics and legality of this tool are 100% cool with the border, but I can't speak for the legal ivory part (I do think they come with a certificate of pre-ban ivory to make it easier).

Very nice. I have the stag version which I bought directly from Northwoods as well. The finish is excellent. Its a real handful too - it snaps open and because it's so thin the blade seems very long. I'd love to have a slim sheath made to carry it.

Beautiful purchase! Here's hoping it gets to you safe and sound! :)

Thanks guys it was definitly worth the risk. Also the price was quite good at 200$US.
The stag one was half that but the ivory was just so unique and rare. i can see why
you guys like the pattern. It is a very handy one in the kitchen for food prep. I have a #9 Opinel that is even longer but that same blade and use it daily. It is nothing like this though.

I love the idea f a fitted sheath! I have a buddy who does fantastic work and did one for my first slippie a bone handled GEC.

I am thinking a nice rosewood Lagolule (spelling it wrong) would be a nice match.

WOO HOO! it made it through customs with out incident.
It is truly a beautiful piece. The ivory to bolster fit is excellent although the arrowhead shield has some gap. The spring is about perfect maybe because the longer blade gives a bit more leverage. The ivory is fantastic ,I keep picking it up just to handle it.
The D2 blade needed a bit of a touch up though and could be a little less obtuse although that is more preference than anything else.

I LOVE the large toothpick pattern and it looks especially good with the stainless bolsters and ivory. It is a big knife that does not feel big. I will take a photo next to my Spyderco Police today. It is almost the same size but it just disappears in a hand or pocket because of the beautifully organic shape. I am tempted to order a matching stag version to use as the ivory one is just a little to pretty to EDC. It really is to bad about the sield to ivory fit or it would be perfect.

Here is a huge photo of the ivory Northwoods next to my Spyderco Police just to give you an idea of size.
I love this knife a LOT.
