Hi everybody, I've had a dozen or so great eastern Cutlery knives currently I don't have any left. Sold off except the 79 stag that some of you know I lost in/with my backpack. Ultra unHappy....

Anyway, I keep this knife it's a 3 blade I like all the blades just cuz I do a little bit of carving when I'm out in the woods fooling around and I like that sheepsfoot blade most because I can carve letters with it pretty well. So I like that blade to be thick and stout as is the one on this old-timer. The gec blades were of course quite Sharp but not particularly thick. I had my eye on a Northwoods Fremont for a long time as I figured maybe they were thicker blades they certainly appear to be. I thought a single blade sheepsfoot that is would be just about right. But now they seem scarce and expensive. But there's tons of Fremont or no, tons of Delta Jacks and the Fayette.
So for those of you who own all three or at least two of them can you tell me you know the differences that exist between some of these knives that have the sheepsfoot only?
I prefer the one with the least amount of stretched-out point as in the Hawthorne.
The sheepsfoot Shown is what I'm aiming at..
Technically I guess would call that a stout radius.
Thanks everybody and I hope whoever has them is enjoying their Fremont's. That kryptonite acrylic one sure looked awesome the other day beautiful knife.

I almost forgot,if I remember correctly I got the old timer @pwcvincent best $17 I ever spent ! I cleaned it up and it's worked like a charm ever since.
Have a great day.....:D

I have a Fremont and a Hawthorne and they're both pretty pointy. The Hawthorne more so.

That blade shape in your picture is more like what you see on the Beer Scout and Cap Lifters by my eye.

I'm not going to be much help but I've owned a couple Fremonts and a Delta Jack. I liked the Delta Jack a little better because I'm more a fan of equal end frames than sleeveboards.

When I think of thick, blunt sheepsfoot blades, K'roo knives always come to mind.

Sheepsfoot has a spine that is parallel to the cutting edge. Lambsfoot has a spine that tapers slightly down toward the cutting edge, but with an abrupt angle down like a sheepsfoot near the tip, and not a long, smooth swoop down to a needlepoint tip like a wharncliffe.

The Delta and Freemont Jacks both have something that is a little like a hybrid - it's not a hard angle downturn like a sheepsfoot or lambsfoot, but it also doesn't start nearly as soon nor terminate quite as fine as something like a regular GEC wharncliffe on the Talon or the Viper. Another thing to note is that those rustic series Northwoods blades are saber ground, so they have a lot more meat at the spine/tip and less distal taper than regular blades. They would certainly be as sturdy, and likely a lot sturdier, than the sheepsfoot on your Schrade stockman, simply for their saber grind.

All of the knives you mentioned are larger than the Harrison Bay and right around your 3 1/2 inch preference.
