Anybody have any experience with the Northwoods Gladiator?

The release of Derrick's new Northwoods Knives: Forest Jack has got me studying the rest of the Northwoods line-up.

When I saw the Northwoods Knives: Gladiator Double End Jack I was intrigued.

Not only do I love the wide blade shapes that give me the kind of belly you don't often see in a slipjoint; likewise, the CPM-S60V is not a steel associated with traditional folders.

Does anybody have any experience or comments on this knife?

A good friend of mine has one and loves it. He's an old timey knife knut who loves traditionals, but also loves high performance alloys. He told me this is one of his favorite knives. Excellent fit and finish and awesome edge retention.

I have one and love it.
Haven't really used it much, but am intrigued with the premium steels and the excellent fit and finish. Plus on mine the stag covers are well matched and beautiful.
Not a small, light knife by any stretch of the imagination, but to me it carries well.

Thanks fellows, glad to hear the positive reports.

There's something about that particular design that really calls to me.

It size is a plus for a ham fisted user like me.

And I'm very interested in the premium steel aspect of this knife.

It Looks like Derrick will be getting more of my hard earned cash.

If the fit and finish is anything like the Bullet Jack, that will be an amazing knife. I keep coming back to Northwoods knives.

these are especially interesting knives. They were made by GEC (though Dave would have said he made them....) and they are a super steel. I have worked like crazy to get Bill at GEC to do some knives for me with s30v or some other super steel, but he is steadfast on 1095 and 440c.

I don't know if there will ever be another one like it come out of GEC.

I am traveling today, but if you do the contact us form on the website, Greg will take a pic for you.

No experience with it - but it looks like a beauty... looks like it is available with different scale materials too - nice.

Anybody have a pic of one of these closed? Been searching a ton! Thanks!

It's the same model, but for the steel, nail nicks, & bolster detail as a GEC 54 moose which is the larger knife pictured below. Since I'm a fan of most things GEC, I've had an interest in these for awhile, but the cut through nail nicks really turn me off, though the steel choice is still a big draw.

That Gladiator looks actually nice all the way. And great quality all the same. Now, I could do with a long pull (or a well placed nick) rather than the hole in the blade. I love my blades plain and full...

Those super steels are pretty hard to work with and especially with the smaller knife blades in traditionals. I would love to see and S30V bladed traditional. ATS-34 is pretty good to and Queen has used it on a lot of knives. 420 and 440 just makes me yawn.

Closed?, ...they look like double end jacks.

Open, they're Savage cutting tools.

With the CPM-S60V Steel, these knives are the best of Old and New.
