I picked up a couple new knives from Northwoods, they have really picked it up a notch or two in my opinion and for some reason all my extra funds seem to head in that direction..

Here's a 5 1/4" Stag 2 Blade Hunter in D2 & Rogers bone Scagel Barlow in 1095..

EXTRA FUNDS??? Man once again I'm standing in the wrong line!
Love that Stag Sunburst & the photography is exellent!!

Knowtracks already nailed it on all counts. Great knives and photos.

Congrats on the scores.

They both look exquisite. That folding hunter is extra fine on all counts. I know of a new knife company called Great Eastern that could take a few lessons from Northwood on how its done..;)

Thanks for sharing those with us sunburst.:)

Thank you for the nice compliments, the quality of these newest additions at Northwoods has been impressive. From what I have read Dave Shirley has purchased the equipment to do most of their stuff in-house these days and in my opinion the results are fantastic.

Hey Sunnyd I agree that a few lessons could be learned.

Sunburst,
By the way, I meant to complement you on the stag scales on the folding hunter specifically in my last post; they are, without a doubt two of the closest matching scales that I have ever laid eyes on. I kept switching back and fourth to see if I could make out any inconsistencies and damned if they aren't as close as carbon copies. Did you hand pick that one yourself?

I usually do not promote this but that is one of the very few that I would put in the safe queen column to be eventually passed down to your sons or daughters.

Awww shucks ya got me blushing over here. :p Sunnyd that was just good selecting from Northwoods end, I ordered a couple knives via email and that was what the postman brought in the mail..

Like I said earlier in the post, they have really kicked it up a notch and I read that they bought Marbles knife grinders and now do all knives in-house. I'm letting the cat out of the bag but hey, a quality affordable knife is hard to find and worth sharing with others who appreciate such attributes..:)

Here is one I bought a few months ago; 5" Stag Toothpick in D2...

Thanks again :)

Wow, wow, and wow! Those are sweet! The stag on both the folding hunter and the toothpick is awesome. I can see SunnyD's unusual urge to hold them for future generations. But, I say, let 'em find their own! :D Besides, a little honest pocket wear would make them better heirlooms. ;)

ALL knives made in house? That folding hunter looks exactly like a Queen #39, and the toothpick looks like Queen built also. I'd just about bet money that both are Queen manufactured and finished by Northwoods. I have a CSB Queen 39 that excepting the scale material is identical to that beautiful stag model there. I am not saying any of this in a disparaging manner either, as I have total respect for both makers and would never hesitate to buy product from either. I love folding hunters, and I wouldn't mind having a stag handled Queen/Northwoods/whatever just about like that one. May I ask how much one of those would set a feller back these days?:p

I really like that Scagel reproduction.
I can't help to enjoy the looks of a true user design.

Well it looks like I jumped the gun again folks, I apologize..I asked Dave Shirley and here was his answer...

We only do the handles, then send them to Queen for assembly.
Parts are all lazor cut/then sent to Queen.

I did read that they were going to go do all knives in house but evidently that has not happened yet...But as Phil said I don't see that as a bad thing, matter of fact I see it as just another reason to purchase more of their knives...:D

Thanks again for the compliments..:)
