Anyone have any experience with Northwoods Knives? Their fixed blades in particular.
The Button Hole model looks like it would make a nice bird and trout knife.

Nothwoods are quality knives just not as popular or produce the numbers of other knife makers. I have a large skinner and a caper model. Both very well made, skinner is in 440C and has seen some use, very stout and keeps a good edge.

I have a knife in Northwoods for repair because of poor QC
They have had it for months now

I elected to try their 'Gladstone Drop Point Hunter' when I was searching for a decent 'bushcraft-lite', or woods walking/hiking, knife. Decent knife, the D2 blade is a bit thinner than the A2 blade of the B R K & T 'Huntsman' I got about the same time although it is ~.5" longer on edge. It's convex edge got a few swipes on my mouse pad loaded with Semichrome - and was a decent armhair removal device. The cocobolo handle is more comfortable, due to it's larger size, than the Huntsman's, The drop leather sheath is decent. It was a good value for a low production knife and was ~$75 then. It's the fifth one from the left below.

Sorry for your troubles with those folks - I've never heard of anyone having such problems with them before. It is a low production, ie, small, company. Keep trying... maybe a snail mail letter is in order?

I have a scagel reproduction folder. Very poor fit and finish. Horrible grind and edge. grind was so bad, I turned it into a scandi. Heat treat on 1095 was soft. Nice stag though. There have been past reports of less than stellar customer service.

I picked up a custom willow leaf at Blade 07'. Its in 52100 very close to a 1/4 inch spine, zero edge bevel. sharpest knife out the box i ever recieved. The blade is bairly convexed not much though, almost flat. Layered black and orange g10 handle, its slick but has a great shape and super comfy.
A very well designed hunter.

My 1st Northwoods, which I still have is a kitchen knife (A filet knife) in 440C with cocobolo (I think) scales. It's worked great & holds its edge very well.

The other one I recently traded, but it was a good knife, a med. Stockman in 1095 with stag handles. I liked it.

I can't complain, but I guess some people have had their issues with them.
