Was this one on anyone's radar? I didn't know it was coming until it was available for sale today. Anyone pick one up? It looks just like the Bark River Classic Drop point but with a hidden tang construction... Can anyone spot other differences?

Here is a desert ironwood one that I think looks really nice :)

My only comment is that some of them sure look nice!

They talked about them in one of the Bark River youtube videos.
I agree it looks much like the DPH which is Bob Loveless's design.

I would have bought one right away... if I didn't just buy a Fox River LT last week... But I don't have a classic drop point... so I need one of these, right guys?

Nope two. One for you and a nice yellow handled one for me-they have 3,you pick.😎:D For encouraging you.
Thanks, Neal

Derrick from KSF touts this as his design of the perfect knife blah blah blah, but in reality, it looks like just another offering from Bark River that is similar to a bunch of other knives in their lineup.

I think that the number of models in the BR lineup has become confusing as it is, or is that just me?

I like this model. I wish that they would add the blade height to all of the knives on their site. It is hard to tell from pictures alone. I did not know that it was hidden tang. Why the two bolts then?

That was my point. There's so many knives in their lineup that anything new that is introduced is really just a rehashing of previous models with a slight variation. This one looks just like the Bravo 1 LT with a bolster and the belly of the handle just slightly shifted forward. I found it funny that in the latest KSF email, it was touted as this whole new design and really, it isn't.

There are a bunch of excellent handle choices... Black denim micarta is catching my eye and many of the burly curly woods. And this is probably my most favorable fixed blade pattern I've seen. But I always get sticker shock with the BRK offerings and don't have much need for fixed blades and ultimately end up passing.

I just wish some of these woods would make appearances on the Northwoods folders.

Yes I wish the northwoods came in the same Cocobolos and CTEKs and stuff, that would be too cool. Also, I wish BRKT would start making folders themselves, but those would probably be more on the "tactical" than traditional side. Still, I know how you feel about the fixed blade thing. I would wear one all the time if it was more acceptable in my area but no one really does haha. I actually think its illegal to be showing a large fixed blade, it has to be concealed here (Washington). While folders need to be not concealed... like pocket clip showing. Meanwhile 2 states south of me in california, the laws are reversed. Sigh...

I don't know, when we are talking about a slab of steel, it's the small details that make one knife different from another eh?

Eh? How about meh...I don't see enough change in this model to have people claim that it's some new design that took months to come up with. It's just a blend of what Bark River has already done to death across their product line.

While not new or innovative, it doesn't mean the knife can't be good.

On a side note, I personally prefer the cleaner look of the Northwoods logo on the blade.

Is this not very similar to how each year's patterns of traditional knives are from the big companies? (Case, Queen, GEC)? They are all basically the same patterns, same blade shapes, with very small alterations/improvements, always striving for the "perfect" knife. They put a new and cool looking shield on it... this is kind of like having a Northwoods logo instead of bark river. And it gives the maker a way to release it with some different handle materials. I think there are so many companies out there doing so many different things that I don't mind if 1 of them, Bark River, keeps innovating on its general themes. Do I think Derek from KSF has read 1 too many marketing textbooks?

Innovative or not, it's a nice looking knife. I dig the sort of generic classic patterns. But, I do wish they would have went with some carbon/ tool steel instead of Elmax. The thin stock they've been doing with their 3v like in their latest Kephart is really tempting.
If I had the extra cash I'd pick one up.

They should just do full height grinds. It's a nice looking knife but i can guarantee that most of them has mismatched bevels.

155440: I never said it wouldn't be a good knife, you proved my point though, it's not new or innovative.

PNW: You're right, knife companies do make improvements to knives as the years go on but they don't claim that it's now something totally new and never done before.

And yes I agree, Derrick has his marketing down. Funny how every news letter that comes out for a "new" knife is reviewed by saying that it's now the "perfect" knife.

That was my point. Don't claim that it's something totally new and "perfect" when it's clear that it's not.

That's all folks!!

They convex so...there are a few full height or flat grinds. Ksf has a bushcrafter and another dealer has a few various models if you look around.
