I'm fairly new to NW and GEC's but the collection is growing. Regarding Northwoods, what is the difference between the branding on the tang vs on the blade? I've seen both and can't seem to find out the significance. Thanks for any help and Merry Christmas!

The current ones are all the same brand through Knives Ship Free. Cosmetic changes are likely just around the models.

But if you can post photos/specifics you'll get way more detailed info.

You might get more responses in the Traditional sub-forum, but yes - the differences are just due to the aesthetic choices of that particular model (excluding the older, Dave Shirley productions).

Pretty much what he said but generally when the blades are grinded thinner you'll see the Northwoods stamp on the tang instead of the Blade. On the more thicker grinds you will see the Northwoods stamp on the blade is what I've noticed. Hope that helps

that makes sense, thanks a bunch.

There are basically two different blades. most have the saber grind, Northwoods across the top, and the heat treat scale left on the blade for rustic effect. The other is the traditional styling, flat grind, Northwoods on the tang, no Heat treat. Any newer model they make will be the first version but legacy patterns that get re-runs will usually keep the original styling of the blade. Also most flat grinds have brass pins and liners.

agree...

just an addition...

the #35 GEC pattern comes in two versions,
the rustic Delta Jack (2017) and the fancy Indian River Jack (old version 2014/15 made by Queen, new version 2020 made by GEC)
