hey everyone, quick question for you from someone very new to the porch:

does anyone know how often northwoods releases new pocket knives, and whether or not they ever re-release previous patterns? i'd love another run of madison barlows, single- or double-bladed!

thanks always for the information and the conversation!

I don't think there's any rhyme or reason to the frequency of Northwoods releases. You might consider contacting Derrick at knivesshipfree.com. If anyone can elaborate, Derrick would be your man.

The only Northwoods I know for sure that has had multiple runs was the Fremont Jack but there are probably others.

Hey. Northwoods release as fast as we can get inventory.

That being said it is usually about 5-6 times a year.

We do re-run patterns. We have new Hawthorns in the works right now.

Now that is good news! Selling my Hawthorn was something I always regretted!

Indian River Jack has had several runs- hoping for another one soon, I ain't getting any younger LOL

I don't think those will ever happen. Queen Cutlery is the only company making traditional pocket knives in a higher-end steel like CPM-154. However, Queen is not consistently up to GEC standards for certain things like blade grinds. Northwoods customers want a GEC level of fit and finish.

Somebody in Queen's qc needs to step it up. My favorite brand truly, and as the only one working consistently with newer steels, even "just" ATS-34, there is a real need, to help draw in new consumers and knuts to the traditional side of things. Plus in all honesty, I'd really like an IRJ myself. :D Although the short runs of single and double bladed gunstocks are pretty all right too. Fwiw.
Thanks, Neal

The Presidential and Norfolks were made by GEC..Also the way GEC does their stainless would make a nice IRJ.
