Wow. Ground my S30V today...wasnt too bad at all!! The norzacs worked great!!! Went thru it nice, didnt burn it at all, going full tilt boogy on my Grizzly. The norzacs are super smooth on the platen, 500 grit finish no prob :) So much nicer than trizacs!!!!

Good to hear Taz. The Norax belts are indeed awesome. Where did you get the S30V? I'm thinking of trying some.

I got the S30V from Crucible directly. I call up Bruce DeVita in Texas, and order some. I susually get some bargain bin steel, too, like O-1 and A2 :) 1/8x2x36 was $42. And I got 2 8" blade kitchen knives, 2 small neckers, and 2 8"x1" pieces left over :)

Taz,
They DO work great on the S30V considering the finer Trizacts all but touched it!! I've been finishing them to 320 hand rubbed, BEFORE heat treat and it's been working out pretty well. This leaves a miniumn of effort for finishing after heat treat. Still doensn't look like my usual D2 though :(

Ok. 2 of the blades are 8" kitchen knives :) BIG blade, 2" wide :) I ground them vertical flat grindiing on the wheel, and the norzacs work great. Also, i did 2 smaller neck knives from the S30V, ground on the platen. the 500 grit belt is a really nice finish for a satin finish :)
