I picked up a large lot of NOS USA-made Nicholson and Simonds files of all sizes and shapes. These are old stock from 40-60 years ago I am guessing. Close to a thousand files. I imagine some of them would work well for you guys to file your axes and hatchets with? I have been selling them for between three and fifteen dollars each depending on size and rarity. Most of them I can get to fit into a medium flat-rate box. I would rather not break up full boxes of files, so unless I have a partial box of a certain file I may not sell them individually.

Wouldn't have bothered me much to trip over a pile of loot like that either. Well done and good of you to try to find homes for these.

I have always collected files, they are such powerful and essential tools. I already had over 300 files in my collection for my own use before I ran across these new ones. I don't think I would live long enough to wear these out, and I do not really have the room to store them either. So if anyone can dream of a file they need from 14" down to fine Swiss needle files let me know and there is a good chance I may have it in stock.

You caught my attention when you mentioned the Swiss needle files. New ones seem dull compared to the old ones I've used. I'm always looking for them in round, half round, and flat. Do you have all 3 of these types, and if so, are you willing to sell one or 2 of each, or would I have to buy a whole box? Price?

Possum, I am sure I can find some swiss needle files in the lot that have round and flat sides. It sounds like you want to buy three to six files total? I will sell common needle files for $3 each in small quantities but I prefer to sell as many as possible so it pays for my time sorting, packing them and driving them to the post office. I sold 100 NOS needle files to a guy in Michigan and that brought the price per file way down, I think I could easily come up with another one or two-hundred of them if I dug into the pile. You should also let me know if you want files with a fine or coarser cut.

would it be foolish to ask if there are any rasps in that lot?

would be interested in some files at any rate.

Littlehoot all the files are for working metal, sorry! I imagine you could do some detail work on dry hard wood with some coarse metal files, the ones designed for soft metals might work. I have never tried it though.

I have mostly been selling the files by the lot, or making large sets various size files out the the partial boxes. It is just not worth my time to pack and ship one file unless it is such a rare or special file that selling it will pay for my time and fuel getting it to the post office etc.. There are some "pippin' pattern jewelers files I have that people sell on Ebay for $30 a pop, but I would still rather sell the entire box of them cheaper at once than running to the PO ten times to sell them individually.

Got my 6 x 14" Nick black diamond files today with the little extra gift included, real surprised and touched, thanks alot mate, you have no idea how rare this little guy is up here :) thanks for the opportunity mate, that shipping cost was hell (blame it on the provider) but the files are from heaven.
