NOS but poorly stored Norlund....

I was cleaning out an old house and found this Norlund axe. It was in it's original box, but stored where the roof of the building was leaking and the box disintegrated when I moved it. All I have done to it so far is to dump some neatsfoot oil on the sheath, but I think it is beyond saving. Maybe in a few days after the oil has soaked into the leather I will take off the sheath and clean the head of it up.

That's too bad. It will probably clean up well and be a good user but it could have been a great find. You might even be able to save the label. I found a gun once in similar circumstances that I got to work but it was ugly.

It actually was a great find for me because it was free except for the effort it took me to pick it up and carry it home.... The handle is solid, and although the head has some pitting it will be a great user and conversation piece. There was a new Estwing axe there too the same size as this one, I gave it to a buddy who is going to use it to clear snowmobile trails this coming weekend.
