I know it's not a knife, but I figured that the collective knowledge of this forum might be able to help me identify this. Pretty sure it's a tool of some sort, scraper maybe? It's screwed into a threaded tube with a leather washer on it that obviously keeps it fairly well sealed. Only markings on it are 'MA' on both ends. Found amongst a bunch of tools from the grandfather's estate...

I can't seems to upload pics through tapatalk, so I will try and do that in a minute on the computer... Any help in working it out would be appreciated :)

Sorry I,m no help really, but my first thought is old military gun tool of old doctors tool.
Hope someone knows I,d like to find out what it s too.

Ok so thanks to your help, I have worked out that it was made at the SAF Lithgow factory in Australia. They did use a stamp that had a star on it, then in the early 20s started stamping one end with MA (the type one model), then moved to stamping both ends with MA (type two).

What I can't work out is when they actually changed to stamping both ends with MA. so I know it was made after the early 20s,but that's as much as I can narrow it down so far...
