I am sure many of you have heard of wire EDM cutting. It has many applications, but is used in some knife and gun manufacturing (thus posting this on Bladeforums, besides just being cool) You can see it in the video, but there is a .012" diameter copper wire running past the part, that is "sparking off" against the stock taking my finish pass. The additional pictures are of the slug that was cut off on the rough pass. Wire EDM's can achive shapes and radius that are much more difficult or impossible to achieve on a cnc mill.

They are some pretty kick ass machines. We outsources a few parts at my old shop, and when I picked em up I watched it run for a while.
