Dear friends,

A lot of you are not from New York City and haven't witnessed just how bad it is to actually be at ground zero. I went to the site today and took a few photos. I thought I'd share some with the forum. Especially those who haven't the chance to get close to the site. These images is what I see living here in NYC from a different angle other than those seen on magazines and newspapers. Television just doesn't cut the mustard when it comes to seeing it's scale in front of you.

AO, thanks for the pics. You're right, tv or newspapers just dont give the feel of how enormous it is. I took my brother who was visiting, down there on Thanksgiving morning, forgot all about taking pics, it was very emotional.
And personally, I had a problem with the dozens of people selling hats, shirts, pins, flags, etc. whose entire english vocabulary is five dollars, or ten dollars. I've been given a few hats and shirts but the ones I've bought have been from where I know the money is going to help somebody. It's probably a problem with me, but I have a hard time with them making a profit from this.
Sorry for the rant. The pics are excellent. Thanks.

AO,

Thanks for the pictures. They are really well done. I still can't believe it everytime I am near the area and just see it.

Dave,

I know exactly what you are talking about. A day after the attack, there were people on the street selling pictures of the old skyline. That really disgust me. Now you see people selling the Flag, NYPD,FDNY t-shirts. I will continue to support where I know my money is going no just someone on the street trying to make a buck on these events.

Shelby, thanks for the pics, they are awesome in clarity and lighting.

I look at these pics, and everything gets kinda quiet, and the troubles I have seem to be insignificant.

Thanks again, and God bless the good ol' US of A.

Mr.Chan you are a photo god.....Great work..

Lifter4Him: I understand how you feel..I feel the same.. The day after 9-11 boxes of lil hand flags started coming on the trucks where I work,$5.00 a piece...I asked if any of the sales were going to charities and was given a big NO....The store was the only one who would benifit ..Soooooo I gave them out for free during my shift...Farkin leeches try to make a buck off everything..

lifter4him, Duck,

I know exactly what you guys mean. About three blocks away from ground zero, there are stands everywhere selling hats, shirts, etc. For them, it's anything to make a buck. And obviously, non of these guys making money off the tragedy had lost any loved ones. I've even seen shirts that write "I can't believe I survived the WTC disaster". I think that's tasteless. Being lucky to be alive is one thing, but sounding surprised that you're alive after such an incident and wearing it across your chest for everyone to read is another. Back in 93, there were similar shirts with such a notion of unbelieveable words that read "I can't believe I survied the WTC bombing". They were selling them by the end of that very day. It just goes to show for those dudes out there who are just in it for the money, the more things change, the more they remain the same.
