A late 19th/early 20th century Anglo-Indian bone and ebony sword stick, maybe? Yes I know what it entails unfortunately... Yet here is history.

Anyone know about such things?

It's a "sword cane " , so I'd say yes , close enough ! ;)

But what does it "entail unfortunately " ??

Throw away reproduction from India produced for the past half century, or so. That one looks last century. 1980s, thereabouts. Available today from Atlanta Cutlery, with a better blade but worse scabbard. It looks like the scabbard throat/ferrule is stuck on the sword latch mechanism, or never had a latch.

Enjoy!

I picked one up in trade for another Windlass product and reinforced the scabbard, which is just thin bamboo. If that is leather on wood, a good step up in quality but remember, it sold in the $50 range back then.

Not to be considered an orthopedic care device. A bit short and more swagger stick weight.

Cheers

Last century? So like 1800s? ( I know I can't be the only one whose brain still automatically does that ).
Yes, apparently we now mean those halcyon days of ye olde 1900s.

Since most of my searching predates the 19th century, realizing a quarter of another century is gone; the last century well places most of my life in the 20th century. I keep looking at old stuff, stalking another old Italian stickie thingies.

The Cold Steel sword canes are worth the money at the budget end and far stronger than these little pretty trinkets that catch an eye. I bought a pair of the non bladed canes for mobility when not in the chair. The CS HD sword cane is the exact same aluminum shaft as my plain ones. I have swords that are just at my right height, or I would consider a cane sword something one would _need_.

I would advise you to check the Finnish knife and weapon laws a bit closer before strolling around with it.
IIRC, Finland prohibits the carrying of any large knife or weapon without an obvious use related need. A fisherman or hunter can carry a sheath knife while fishing or hunting. If you have one on your hip at the store or a park, it is prohibited. Swords can be imported and owned but not carried in public. Any disguised knife or sword is considered a concealed weapon. Interestingly, Finland's concealed weapon laws make no distinction on whether it is your property or public It is prohibited anywhere without a special permit. It is very difficult to get a concealed weapon permit.

Thanks. Not strolling at all. Decorative item.

I like it! It would look good in a case over the fireplace or in an umbrella stand. Every man (and many women) would love to have a look at it when they come to visit. Who knows, this could be the beginning of a very nice collection of sword canes!
