Not a Take-down??!!?? (Afzelia Hunter)

It took some soul searching, but I actually made a knife that doesn't take-down.
Yet, I insisted on making it and still utilize a full through-handle threaded tang construction.
I used the EXACT SAME ASSEMBLY procedure that I use on my take-downs with a slight variation. Same pins from guard to handle, to eliminate any lateral movement or twisting of handle material, same full-length through-handle threaded tang, but a simple pommel nut inset into the hande, without a butt cap or sleeve, with an internal shoulder to pull every thing up tight, and then I cut it off flush with the handle and polished.

This way, it's a full mechanical connection from blade tip to handle butt, with no pins or bolts to encumber the handle or compromise the handle material, or leave assembly cracks or flaws around pins and bolts. I have always felt pins and bolts distract from the beauty of most handles.

This type of assembly allows full completion of the knife before final assembly, with as many dis-assemblies as necessary to ensure fit and finish.

Stabilized Afzelia Burl handle, with stainless fittings. Fully hardened 5160 blade fordged down from 1" stock.
5" blade, 10" overall.
