Well that certainly would have sucked. Pine is tricky because it's a "soft" wood but it's also really springy. Springy is not always good to your knives.

Still, now that person has an excuse to get a real knife :P
 
I find that odd. Was just out batoning with my 119 a few days ago. Should get some Pine to see if that will happen to mine. Thanks for posting this Pit.
 
Hey guys, is it just me or does that edge show a lot of chips on it. Maybe the blade was "stressed" from something that it was used for in the past. Who knows? I never batton with stainless steel...come to think of it I don't use stainless blades very much anymore at all.

I think Buck makes those from 420C ??? I also think that yellow pine is much tougher that say white pine. I do hate to see the demise of a knife, but it can happen. Bet if it had been made of 1095 or 5160 it would still be in one piece...
