Not all Red Line is made in Taiwan!

Les deAsis just confided to the Benchmade faithful that, along with putting "Made in USA" back on the knives made in the USA, that two of the Red Line aren't made in Taiwan, but Oregon!

Since two Red Line knives (they confirmed the 160 tether, but name the other) are made in the USA, there is a possibility that other Red Line knives may be made there as well.

I'm not quite sure how to take this news, but felt like sharing it.

It is a little hard to equate the fact that these knives are made in the US with anything other than the fact that this creates jobs for Americans. That's a very good thing. It may also mean that the knives are of a higher quality, but most likely not. Benchmade would demand the same level of quality from whatever factory makes the knives.

Interesting. Benchmade's site lists the Tether as part of their Red Class, but the local B&M shop in town just got in 2 Tethers and they were in Benchmade's new Blue Class boxes. I didn't check to see if the butterfly logos on the blades had Benchmade's new font on them, but I suppose if the Tethers are going to continue being made in the USA, Benchmade will have to make red boxes specifically for them as the boxes on my Red Class folders are printed Made In Taiwan. Either that or they could cover the print with a small sticker saying Made In USA.

my 160 tether came in a blue box and so did the one next to it in the cabinet. the blade does not say USA.

Topgunpilot20,

If the blade is unmarked, it's most likely made in the USA. All of Benchmade's Taiwanese blades proudly say "Taiwan" on them. Well, they don't talk (at least, not often), but it's written on the blades.
