I knew Phill but never could pony up the $$ to get one of his blades. He was such a nice guy and his works always something I found interesting and unique. So after 25+ years after meeting Phill I started making knives and thought to make one with his cord style wrap for my EDC.

It is 1/8" O1 tool steel deferentially heat treated with a chisel grind. Blade is 3.25" and 7" OAL. Handle is wrap with black cord and coated with epoxy. I made a kydex sheath and then with some help from Pohan Leu I made a metal sheath as well rubber coated.

When I carry it, it reminds me of Phill and his influence in the custom knife world and makes me smile :)

Thanks for looking

Fitting tribute. I too have a knife that I designed that pays homage to the late Hartsfield. Pohan made it for me.

sorta kinda not really :P

Great looking knife you got there Adam! Keep up the great work!
Oh hush you! I took cues from him and you when I went to the drawing board. You know this; I told you that before. Hope all is well, my friend.

Thanks guys,

I have been putting it through its paces and it is a keeper.

I just picked up a brochure of Phill Hartsfield from 1982 and it talked about him using "O1 Toolsteel" for his knives so I thought that was pretty cool. I think he switched to A2 not to long after that though IIRC.
