Well, I was correct - There was a Civivi Conspirator under the Christmas tree.
I am not crazy about it. I have one other Civivi (the Praxis) and it is a great knife. I rarely carry it because it has a deep carry clips and those drive me nuts. I am not sure if the Praxis is on bearings (if you know, please chime in). I am hoping it is because that would mean the "Tingy" sound is NOT because this is a bearing knife (and would mean I don't have to worry about this also being the case with my inbound Lucha).
There are really only 3 things I don't like about it:
(1) The for mentioned "Tingy" sound. It just has a cheap tin like "ping" to it. Does NOT sound like my Praxis. Maybe because it is a button lock? It is the only button lock I currently own and the only manual button lock I have EVER owned.
(2) The clip. I knew it came with a deep carry so I asked for the custom clip with it. It is not deep carry BUT it is really skinny and actually in the way of my grip. Almost to the point where I'm gonna put the DC clip back on it.
(3) The biggest issue! Folks reviewing it point out how "neutral" the handle is with no finger grooves at all. It IS. No matter your hand shape, it fits because it is just a rectangle. Unfortunately, there is nothing locking your hand on to the grip. If you pinch the blade with the index finger and thumb of your support hand then pull back with your strong hand... you can see it would be VERY easy to slip off this handle. Obviously, this only matters if you see a possibility of ever having to pull the knife out of something it has been thrust into but.... it is still a concern.
So far, this is one for the shelf.
