Dave wanted the Doc's to save enough bone from his knee replacement to make scales for a 500..But it it was in too bad of shape and had to be 'chipped' out...He's at day 3 after the surgery and they had him up walking a little, more than I would have done no matter how much pain meds they gave me!When I first seen him tonight around 6;00pm he was in pain but doing ok by 9;00pm his temp had gone up to 104.1 with some pain in his right lung/chest..Keep the old boy in prayer,He still has a few gold etch 110's to add to his display.I'll keep ya'll posted,Clint

Let Dave know he's in my thoughts!

Tell him he needs to get up and move as they say.
Will hurt bad, but better than the long term loss of motion.

Praying for good ole dave here in PA. Never thougth of a knife slabe from a bone replacment-good luck.

I'm sending smoke your way 110Dave, from CA... I'll talk to you soon... Take care... ITE

Thanks for the update Clint. Tell Dave to hang in there--lots of pain but he's a tough ole bird. Prayers sent for a speedy recovery.

Clint & Dave,

Smoke & Prayers sent from the Burton clan. Get well soon! Clint, you need to take Dave some shed juice to take the edge off the pain;).

He frankly had a little scare with the high temp but that is under control now and he's doing OK..He walked 120 feet again today and was hurting plenty from that but gott'er done.He sent me a pic of it that was pretty gruesome but again things are going well.I told Chuck last year after my by-pass surgery Buck should sell medical tools and by the scar on Daves knee, the Doc's at Shands need it..

well hello to all my buck friends!
clint and charle has been the greatest bros ever comeing to visit me in the hosp and the nurseing home!
course my gf comes to see me more and is a darn sight easer on the eyes!

i was in the OR for almost 8 hrs and on the table over 6.5 hrs
the doc i had was the one in florida that takes the worse $$ of the worse$$ to operate on
and trains others in how to operate on the worst of the knee replacements
i recall him telling the others that he had seen only 2 that were worse damage then mine
( guess i get the bronze medal for that )
the bone of the knee was over two times the diamanter it should have been due to spur's
with a lot of damage to all the soft tusse in the joint
repair that had been done in the navy was so old it had crystilised and shatered when they tryed to move it
the doc said it would not have been much longer and it would have failed as i used it ...
the joint they put in was the only one they could use as a replacement and not the docs first choice
yes they had me on my feet within 12 hrs of the operation
yes the pain was/is really bad ... but one of thoes things i have to work through..
....
iin the hosp i come down with P-numona (sp) in the right lung and was on anti's for several days
and that is when the temps went sky high ..
as far as the bone chips.. yes i asked if they cut it off if i could have it but hosp pollicy is
no bio's allow to be given back ....oh well ..
as i live alone the doc's would not release me to go home for several reasons
so here i am in a nurseing home getting better slowly
here i ran temps of 102 ect for days and got under control with anti's again
seems there are blood flow issues in the leg also but not know what to do with it yet
i am the babby here.. the next one up in age is is as old as bg42!
but they are nice to me and i am treated very well ..
i managed to photo the x ray of the new joint and a pict of the leg stiched up

Sorry to hear about this Dave. Sounds like everything is going well. Hope you are up and walking soon.

Hey Dave, hoping that you will heal quickly and get your mobility back so you can get home to all your Bucks!

Outstanding bravery, bionic Dave, you show the rest of us. My son faints when getting a shot. Thank you for the role model and get well to it ASAP.

BTW, nice glue job on the incision (no stitches to come out later), how modern.
