Q. What does one do to feel less depressed if they are not going to the Blade show?
A. Buy a new knife, of course.

A new (older actually) Cattaraugus Barlow.

Very nice looking Barlow! I like the profile of the pen blade on this one.

I am depressed about not going but I am in the shop "making a new knife"

Ken

I dont feel depressed about going to Blade , I could have went , but choose a new knife instead. It will arrive today or tomorrow perhaps. And it's my first custom slipjoint as well.

I also bought a couple older beater schrades and a case or two over the past 3 days.
These beaters will give me something to sharpen and tinker with for weeks to come.

Depressed about missing blade ? nah , not with what I have coming :)

Well, I'm very impressed with those handles with those rich colors. Wonderfully colored bone, and preserved well. The barlow pattern looks proper with the makers brand on the bolster like that. What do you figure the age is on that barlow?

very nice Barlow, pretty well taken care of! Not going to the Blade show either, maybe a knife purchase this weekend though.

What have you got coming in John T?

Thanks. This one was in pretty good shape. I don't know anything more about Cattaraugus other than what is in Levine's Guide so I'll say 1963 or older.

How long should we wait to make sure Moderator Blues and Moderator Gus are not around before we start acting up and getting all rowdy here in the Traditional forum?:D

Nice looking BLADE in that Barlow Rob, Wish you were here.:p
I'll take a lot of pictures and make you feel as if you were there, any special legal requests?

ok so here is what I theorize happened today..

USPS delivery guy , formerly a stealth ninja from some secert covert underground delivery service , lay in wait in the bushes , waiting for that 10 minute window where my knife runs our youngest to school ( less than a mile away ) , she leaves , he springs into action , drops the brown note in the mailbox and is back in his truck before his coffee stopped sloshing in his cup.
8am I will be at the PO , late for work , yet smiling the whole time.
:D

It will still be in my hand before any show goers score anything inside the show. Take the blade goers. ;)

Rob, that is a fine looking Barlow you got there, and very therapeutic I might add...If things get too bad, one could always buy another. :)

any special legal requests?
Jim

Jim, just one legal request: Don't tell Blues and Gus that we plan "to start acting up and getting all rowdy here in the Traditional forum". I don't want to worry them. ;)

Also, have a terrific time, and share pics when possible.

Answer: Go shooting with one of your favorite knife makers, but keep the best groups of the day too close call--don't want to make 'em mad... You all call the best group and then I'll tell you whose is whose:D These were off of the bench at 50 yds. both 5 shot groups. One on left shot with a Marlin .17 HM2 on the right shot with a Cooper 57 M .22 LR.

After measuring the groups, better see how the progress is coming:D

I knew that you were shooting with Ray, even before I scrolled down and saw one of his beauties! You may as well tell Ray to finish the knife...and then send it MY Way!

Great Shooting! Fantastic looking Slippie! :D

How's it going Kent? Actually there are two knives there--I ain't that good at editing photos:D I'm surprised some wise ass hasn't said we missed the targets yet:D We shoot for group size most of the time, so where the bullets are isn't a big deal, it's how small of a hole they make. Accuracy buffs know what I'm talking about;) Later on we did Zero in closer and took turns shooting Paint balls off of golf tees at 50yds. I'll fess up and admit I lost that competition, but it's hard to out shoot Ray:o

You have an excellent taste in knives.
Enjoy it when it comes...

That is what I want for my first custom...
