I struggled to concentrate today on my research so I took a few hours and made this backspacer:

The plan was to make it like this:

but after a while I decided to change it. The GITD only slips over the blue spacer now and snaps into place. No need to take the knife apart. I like it so far. Let me know what you think.

Looks interesting to say the least!

Does the fact that the spacer is raised and not flush with the scale affect the comfort of the grip? It looks, if gripped tight, it may be a bit uncomfortable.

Definitely looks pretty cool while glowing!

Unique and intriguing idea. I have a glow bead for such purposes, but it doesn't glow as nicely as your backspacer. What material did you use, and how long does the glow last?

Surprisingly the grip so far has not been such a big issue for me. Someone with smaller hands mind find in uncomfortable? I will do some feather sticks tomorrow, should give me a better idea and I will report back.

I also have a few GITD beads from a generous guy in Philadelphia. HE explained how he made some of his things. Luckily I have a friend that works with GITD and he gave me a whole bunch of things. Pigments, tape, paint and then a A4 size mold. Easier to sand then G10 in my experience.

As for how long it lasts? I charged it and left it in my room. Been an hour so long and still glowing. Will report back in another 2 hours when I go to bed.

Anyway. Those in USA.

That looks great!

I think you might also find people who have an issue with the 21 handle shape might like the rounded end.

Cool! is it that "moonglow" stuff?

I have a couple scales made from it and they last for hours.

That's awesome.. I've been trying to find photoluminescent blocks, or GITD stock that's thick enough to make a back spacer to handle scale, but no luck... where'd u get yours??

I really do not know if it is "moonglow" but it sure glows for hours.

From Natglow. I just phoned and asked (South African branch) what they had. This was just a A4 size sheet 6mm thick. I still have a lot left and will do more things with it when I have time. Got some kydex I want to play with first and see if I cant get the GITD pigment to melt (form part of) in the kydex some way or the other.

Thats very cool.........:)

If you need some help with Kydex let me know and I will put you in touch with our local CT Kydex GURU..........PM me if you need his details.......

Wow, this is really neat! So I gather its a slip on cover? Could you use this stuff in place of G10?

You are correct it is a slip on cover. I do not know if it can be used in place of a G10 scaleI would have to make one and see if it still provides solid lockup etc. I do however suspect it is not as flame or heat resistant as G10.

Man....when that knife is in the dark it just looks eerily intimidating to me!!! Nice work!

It would be a very interesting thing to see if it could stand the shock. One possibility would be to hollow out the scales so you have a ridged outer support and put them inside.

I wouldn't bet on it being very good with heat either; firefighters beware lol.

Cool, I like it.
To make it easy to slip it on/off makes it perfect for the night-stand.

Great idea! I've been trying to think of a way to get my Military to glow without ruining the Carbon fiber scales. I don't think "outside the box" real well so you've given me a few ideas to work with.
Thanks for sharing.

I really like the smaller one. Is it flush with the handle or does it stick out?
