I got a Wenger Nail Clipper for Christmas. Looks real neat and the way the clipper folds out was really pretty cool. However all was well until until I tried to clip my thumbnail. I squeezed as far as the lever would go but the clippers didn't have enough to clip my thumbnail. They worked okay on my other fingers but the thumbnail was too thick for the clipper. I switched to my no-name clippers and they worked fine on my thumbnail. I don't exactly have screwdriver finger nails. I was looking forward to keeping the Nail Clipper SAK in my work desk or car but if it can only clip 8 out of 10 finger nails I'm better off getting a small $1.99 clipper from the drugstore. :grumpy:

You're the first person I've ever heard say that. It sounds to me like you have a defective one. You should be able to get a replacement if you know where to return it, of if you don't, Wenger should take care of it for you.

I've been using my Wenger nail clipper for a few months now. At first I did have the same problem with the clipper refusing to cut thumbnails. After refusing to believe that Wenger would manufacture crap, I figured out that because of how the mechanism is designed for compactness, it is very dependent on how the pressure is applied to the lever. After adjusting my grip I have not had any problems. That said, it is possible that yours and mine are actually defective, but I am waiting for the clipper to become dull before trying to exercise the warranty :D

Americans have Rhino nails Built Ford Tough..hehheh. This is the first I have heard of this. Maybe Europeans have flimsy nails because of poor diet...hehheh.

I was at a local sporting goods store. They had some Wenger stuff on a knife rack for 50% off. I spotted a 2 pack of the nial clipper models for $29.99, couldn't pass them up. I haven't had any problem with the clippers. The scissors have a nice design. They do not need to be held closed when folding them closed. They are automatically held shut while closing them, very nice desing work.

I do have psoraisis which affects some of my fingernails. One of the nails grows very thick. I generally file or sand it down (150 grit Klingspore belt on the grinder is my favorite method and the fastest). :D

I love the Wenger clippers but they are sensitive to where you hold them when squeezing as was stated. They cut my thick nails just fine.

I even cut my toenails with them and that is a feat.
