Every once in a while the knife exchange Forum on here (BF) catches my eye, and this Black Box Winchester from 1995 tickled my Love-of-Knives gene! With brilliant high grade Pearl for starters, and a history of praise for its beauty here where we hang out, I went for it! You may have seen it posted here before, and it is back under new ownership and new appreciator-ship!!
Lovely pearl, and beautiful finishing, along with mechanical near-perfection, I am not disappointed!! Bill Howard was always proud of the BBs - still is for that matter!
Thanks, Kamagong, for letting me look after this knife for a while!!
And thanks for the extra gift included; an exquisite pen knife from William Rodgers! It has Beautiful Jigged bone in a shadow configuration, and a motto stamped into it that always makes me grin!!

Two beauties there Charlie, congratulations  Very kind Christian

Couple of beauties there Charlie, very generous of Christian to gift that Rodgers.

Glad you like it Charlie. That knife found the right home.

The covers on the Rodgers felt like stag to me.

Beauties, both of them Charlie and to a very worthy caretaker as well;) nice job Christian:cool:

Beautiful BB and Rodgers Charlie. I love mop and I love Black Box Winchesters.

Beauties.
Pearl is sweet and the Rodgers bears more than a passing resemblance to stag..
Cheers.

Good score Charlie. That's a beautiful whittler. I wouldn't mind it being in my collection either!

That is a nice pair! I have several of those black box knives, they are great:thumbsup:

I'm relieved that this knife made its way into Charlie's hands. I was getting sorely tempted to put it to work.

I am an avowed user and accumulator, but as a history buff the idea of using it never sat quite right with me. Look at that pearl! Those blades with both crisp grinds and a mirror polish. This knife is from an earlier era, and although that time was only 23 years ago, they don't make 'em like that anymore.

So I shipped the knife off, to someone with the collector's gene who is well armed to fight the temptation to use every knife that comes his way. Enjoy chicken eye'n and coon fingering that whittler Charlie, I surely did, though admittedly CE'ing and CF'ing a knife proved to be not quite satisfactory enough for me.

Charlie I was scanning the” for sales “ the moment you snagged that Winchester up!
That’s a nice knife alright!!

Love the WR as well - a very nice gift indeed.

It would make a good user, Christian. Slim, smooth grinds - I can see your temptations!! Right now I am indeed in a very history preserving frame of mind, so admiring it is good enough for me. Thanks again for letting it go, and for the Stag Pen!!:D

I hope I didn't snatch it from under your nose, Duncan!!
Save your money for that trip to Oregon, my friend!!! There will be plenty of temptations there!!!:)

Thanks for the kinds words Augie, Christian, Paul, Dwight. Meako, SVT and Ernie!!:thumbsup:

I think it's stag!!:)

Those BBs command a greater appreciation after knowing the builder, unfortunately I don’t think I have any left.

The pen’s handles I deem a51s (Area 51). Grey area stag. Grin’n

I was always a big fan of these ones, but a little disappointed that the bone was quite dark. I like a nice color in my bone...

Congratulations Charlie, very kind gift :) I was also recently gifted this Bullhead :)
