My first Randall is in production and is due for delivery in March 2011 according to the factory.

After a huge amount of see-sawing and flip-flopping I ended up with a #1 fighting knife with an 8 inch stainless blade, and a black micarta border patrol handle. I cant remember what guard I ended up with, I think its the standard #1 guard, either in nickel silver or brass, I cant remember which. :o

I still dont know if going with stainless was the right choice but I have had 0-1 blades and I find they stain incredibly easily. Not to mention rust if I get sloppy and forget to clean them properly after use. I decided that was too much trouble for what is probably a marginal improvement in cutting power.

BTW the original delivery was set for Jan 2011 so the delay is only two months. Not much at all after a 5 year wait. ;)

Woot! You're almost there 'hump, can't wait to see pics once it arrives!

Shel

p.s. Do you guys have any problems with knife deliveries to SA?

No, no problems..... but I often ask a friend in the US to help out because he knows the ropes. Some dealers/manufacturers just arent geared up for international.

"See-sawing and flip-flopping." Ah, yes, I know that well. Congratulations, and I hope it will be worth the wait.

Good on you. I've got 7 or 8 on order with 3 years still to go for the first one. I've got 1's, 14's, 8's and massive 12's on order.

Wow didnt know Randall had many customers in SA I thought you all would be using arbuckles and bauchops! Good choice on the Randall I want a 16 special fighter but I want sawteeth and thats not an choice for some reason

I think I remember you mentioning this before. I just received mine recently here is a pic for you while you wait, this one is less than 3 months old I think.[edit:I just realized this knife is less than a month old in my possession, holly crap was my sense of time is WAY off...]

Thanks for the pic!

What is truly scary is how fast the 5 years went by. Its terrible.....

I originally ordered a Sportsmans Bowie, but changed my mind and went with something a little sleeker.

I wish the wait time wasn't quite as long but I will probably get an order in for another one some time soon. Probably a #14 Attack with a green micarta handle.

Although, who knows what I will end up with when the time grows near. :p

I will say that the customer service from Randall was exemplary and there was a kind lady who had to put up with a lot of back and forth before I finally settled.

In any event, pics will be forthcoming when she lands!

I think any knife nut - no matter where in the world - wants at least one Randall. ;)

Ah, the lovely Valerie. If you ask me, she's the best part of Randall Knives (sorry, Scott and Jason). She puts up wIth an amazing amount of crap from all of us, but it never seems to get her down.
