Both are WW II issue.
Both the 1911 and the Ka-Bar were made by several companies during the war, to meet the military's demand.

Your examples of both appear to be in excellent condition. :)
 
Real awesome MK2 fighting knife, and nice pistol caliber .45 model of 1911a1.
JMB had a real winner with that pistol ( will always be around as long as guns use cartridges ) and Union Cutlery had a real winner with this knife design.
You're lucky to have both.
