Fellow BladeForums member lonediver told me about this site some time ago. I just found it again recently.

I must admit the guy has some pretty good ideas.

 I have a Crunch, and agree that it is very capable.

But two things this guy is talking about seem like they would be worth considering in a multi tool:

1) Adjustable channel-lock type pliers. It seems like folks who need to grip larger diameter objects, like pipe or bolt heads, would prefer something other than standard needlenose pliers.

2) Ratchet driver mechanism. Think about how clumsy it is to remove a screw with your multi tool, especially in tight clearance areas. Often times I can only get half a turn, then I have to disengage, start over, etc, etc, until the screw is out. A ratchet with hex driver socket would solve that.

Sure, it's not for everybody, but still a couple of good ideas.

Yeah have to agree with the ratchet. If it has a ratchet and ball-bearing type of holding head (magnetic is good but can't be used on electronics), can angle at 45 and 90 degrees, is long enough to access recessed screws, and if the pivot and ratchet part is no longer than 3 centimeter (to access tight spots) that would great!

Now that you mention it, it seems odd that no manufacturer has built a multi tool using channel lock plier jaws.

I saw a French made X2 multitool that was built on the slip-joint plier.
Do not know if it is still available.

That is very similar to the SpyderRench, but with the addition of a ratchet and wire cutters in the plier head. I think that was an over sight by Spyderco as that is a useful feature for a plier based multitool.
