Way back in May 2009 (I know, it's not that long ago), I discovered Busse and my lovely wife bought me my first one for my birthday, an HG55, sage blade with black/tan g10. It was wonderful, I loved it, took it everywhere with me. And then, one morning, bout a year ago I reached for it (to stash it under the seat of my car, people steal stuff) it was not there! I quickly deduced that I had LEFT IT ON TOP OF MY CAR!!! never did that before, I quickly retraced my steps, drove back and forth on the route, but alas, my beloved hg55 was gone. I filed a police report, but of course nothing has come of it. Its taken me a long time to admit this folks, I'm rather ashamed, but I can't be the only one who has done something like this, who else has?

About 15 years ago I left my S&W 442 .38 Special lying on the edge of my boat as I prepared for a fishing trip. The next time I thought about my revolver was when I arrived at the boat launch (about a five mile trip). In a panic, fearful of some kid finding it and getting hurt more than the loss of the gun, I drove back along the route and found the revolver lying right in the middle of the road where it had fallen off!

Also left the shooting range, returned home, and when unloading the truck found that my Benelli Super Black Eagle was missing. Drove back to the range and it was leeaning against a shooting table right where I had left it.

I rushed back, wasn't more than ten minutes along the whole route and walked the first mile of it and no luck, it was gone gone gone. I'm glad things worked out better for you Mike.

I once had a buck odyssey come out of my pocket in a friends car. I promptly called her up the next day to retrieve it, only to find that she had JUNKED THE CAR earlier that day! Just my luck. Oh well, better than loosing a Busse.

I've had another Buck folder ( i think it was the replacement Odyssey for the one mentioned above ) stolen from me while i had my head in a drop ceiling. That one really burned me!

Currently my Spyderco Sage I is MIA, hoping i didn't do anything moronic with that one

Has not happened to me. I'm knocking on wood as I type this. :D Sorry to hear of your loss. I'd still be in mourning.

Lost a Mint Navy MK I fighting knife in the boonies at night... learned my lesson about having your gear tied down and attached SECURE>> almost 30 years ago, and it still ticks me off.

Didn't lose a knife or anything valuable, but about 15 year ago I did leave our checkbook on top of the car one morning. Speed limit is 25 mph where we live so not enough wind to knock it completely off. Guy behind me kept blinking his lights, & I in my infinite widson thought it was someone who I knew. Speed limit goes up to 45, I happen to look in the rearview & see something blow off, boucne on the road, and then explode with everything coming out of it. Got turned around and picked up most of the papers, receipts, register, etc. but my wife had left her drivers license in it from the night before. Looked for an hour but could not find it. Our 15 year old son got home, heard what happened, so he & a buddy went to look for it. About 45 minutes later, they came home and had found her license . . . . . or what was left of it. They had about 10 very small pieces that was about 1/3 of the original. He said a guy was cutting grass & had ran over it. Maybe he is the one who come up with the idea of the first paper shredder . . . :)

Around about 1984 I had gone to the bank to make a sizeable withdraw on my way to the BLADE Show. . . . Didn't have credit cards, just cash back then. So, this show stake was supposed to pay for all of my travel expenses, hotel rooms, meals, etc. . . I put all of it in my wallet and then put that on the roof of my car while I dug around for my keys. I drove off and didn't figure out what happened until I got home. . . . Luckily, someone turned my wallet in at a local bank a few days later. All of the cash was gone, but my driver's license, and some pics that I really cared about were still there. I had to drink for 5 days straight to get over that one. . . .

I left my laptop on the roof once. I realized it after a coupe miles of driving and grabbed it while still driving. That got my heart racing haha

Jerry, I would still be on a binge . . . . . :)

I wear Serengeti Driver sunglasses but the first pair I bought in the mid '80s was a struggle to justify $100 for sunglasses. About a week later I pulled out of a gas station, heard a noise on the roof of my Bronco, then in the side view mirror, saw my Serengeti's fly into traffic.

I don't recall ever loosing a knife, but I have "hid" them from myself a few times buy putting them in a coat, backpack, fishing vest or somewhere I forgot about. I'd end up finding them at a later date. :D

Im sorry for your loss.

My gf gifted me a G10 Endura 2 years ago for xmas and I lost it like a bone head. Lost my S90V manix a few months back, I was in denial as it was my favorite folder. I purchased a different variation of the same knife as when I do that sort of thing, the old one usually pops up. Well, lucky for me, it did. Was about to throw a beat back pack away and I checked it one more time before doing so just to be sure I wasnt about to throw something nice away, sure as heck there she was. That was a good day.

What the "HELL" were you thinking, When you get a Busse you take on a great responsibility it's your place and obligation to take care of it, to nurture it and above all love it. The thought of any Busse laying in a ditch somewhere gives me cold chills. I guess the best we can hope for is that someone will find it and realize what they've found... Probably not, they wont know what a piece of "The ultimate creation of man" they have found. Candles must be lit....many many candles. Let me know if there will be any kind of memorial service. My thoughts are with you... you miserable piece of..........

She was my first. I will never forget her. Not only did I lose my first Busse, she was a gift from my loving wife (losing a gift from your loving wife is NEVER GOOD). Its the only time I've ever done this, and it will be the last. Thanks for the condolences folks, she will be missed.

Once, as a kid, I made the mistake of letting my mom hold about 3 grand for me. I had a job, but no bank account then. My mom took the money in the envelope, then promptly lost it.

I did not think about it for a long time. But eventually remembered my mom had it. I asked her where it was. She told me with a straight face, that I had never given her and envelope full of cash.....ever.

She insisted!

More than a year later, she comes up to me and hands me an envelope with 3k or so in it. The same one I had given her to hold, that she insisted she had never seen.

She took the money, and filed it in one of her locking file cabinets under "M" for money, then promptly forgot it ever existed!

I got the money back, but more importantly......I was able to lord it over my mom, that in fact, she had "lost" my money for all that time, and then made me feel stupid for questioning her.

I have "lost" guns and knives of many varieties, including several pieces of Infi. They have always turned up so far.........knock on wood!

sorry to hear of your loss!

I do have one knife that I have lost at least 20 times. Not just around the house. I have lost it while walking, and riding my bike in the snow.

I have had strangers walk up to me and say "Hey, is this yours? I found it in the snow and remembered seeing it clipped to your pocket the other day" Total strangers have tracked me down and given that piece of crap back.

I lost it for 4 years or so when it fell behind a drawer. We found it while throwing the drawer away.

I took it and ground the edge and tip off and gave it to my son as his first "knife" when he wanted to be like me.
