So I saw a listing for a "Sebenza" on Ebay.

(edit: listing removed. Older listing: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...MD7TZ3Yorx5Ul5UafLFkmDIX28s%3D#ht_3247wt_1046

Initially I couldn't see the pictures for some reason, so I contacted the seller. The pictures are obviously of a CRKT S-2 framelock.

Here's our exchange. I found it... Entertaining?:

hello,

scroll down in my auction of that knife, there are big pics.

thanks

Dear (Seller),

Thanks. Sorry, but the knife is a CRKT S series (s-2 I think),
not a sebenza, so I will not be bidding on
it.

Dear (Buyer),

yes its an crkt sebenza 2

Dear (Seller),

The S in S-2 does not stand for sebenza. The sebenza is
made by Chris Reeve Knives, which is a different company
from CRKT (Columbia river knife and tool).

Dear (Buyer),

look i have no time to discuss, its an sebenza.

Sigh...
There's just no talking to some people. It's like banging your head against the wall.

Typical of his behavior. I should have looked into this further before I made this post. :o

I think thats worse than the genuine swiss packaging he was trying to sell a few months back. For those of you who don't know genuine swiss packaging is tissue paper...really expensive tissue paper.

Considering this chap (Swiss Bianco) has a Manufacturer's forum here on BF and makes a living selling knives, yes, absolutely he should have known better.

Nope. Not unless he actually downloaded the wrong images. A couple of years ago I was considering buying a couple of knives from SB. Custom Vics. Then I read some bad stuff about him and changed my mind. His business practices are more than a little questionable. I know he supports this site which I think is great, but some of the things I've read, this thread now included, are very unsettling.

Safetyman, look at the picture in the first post of your first link. That is the true article. Very rare and quite valuable. Only a very few were ever produced. The knife SB has on ebay is NOT one of those. I could be wrong but I don't think so.

Thanks dtto...you know, for some reason I hadn't seen the actual pictures of the knife SB has for sale on the big E :foot:. I've since taken a look and goodness gracious, that is DEFINITELY not the CRKT Seb. I really like to give people the benefit of the doubt, but if what the OP has posted it true, it'll be hard to do that. So sad.

I made this mistake also. That is why I had to edit my first post (#2) in this thread. No worries.

there was a guy on eBay who was selling a lot of these CRK/CRKT collaboration prototypes I thought they were fake because he was selling a lot of them and most of the time less than 100.00

The CRK&T "Sebs" are "real" but should not be sold by or to anyone as they were never given the go a head by CRK. I have a friend here who has a few in his stock room. I have handled the small and the large and I can say with out any sort of doubt that they are a POS at best. Other than the potential collector value they are worth pretty much nothing IMO.

Not to mention they were let out to dealers on the sly by CRK&T after they were told a rather large "NO" from CRK, a very poor show indeed. :thumbdn:

Id like one just to have but im not shelling out $100+ unless there is box and paperwork and even then....

They cost a LOT less than that, I can tell you that much for sure. There is no paper work with them as they were never given the go, they do come in a box though. :p

Report him.

I just did. He is clearly just trying to up the price of that CRKT. That isnt allowed by eBay (though it happens all the time).

I reported him too. I cannot believe he has the nerve to throw an auction out like that. No common sense at all. Surprisingly enough, he is still floating around here too. :thumbdn:

Here is a vid from johnwaynecolt45 that covers the CRKT Sebenza knife in detail.

The guy from ebay posts a one every couple of weeks. Here is his feedback link.

I have the large one. Great collectors piece. If I didnt have one already would pay $100 easy just for the collectors value. This knife will always hold its value because of its rarity. It is however a cheap knife and should not be compared in any way as it relates to quality with a true Sebenza. The small actually comes in a CRKT box however the large does not and comes in a plain white box marked Taiwan.
