not rust?

So my knife that I just bought a few days ago has some strange spots on it... I am pretty sure this isn't rust. The reason I am confused about this is that it only is showing up in the bead blasted metal parts and not the smooth finish parts. WTF?

I dont have a camera right now, I will later. But it's just small red like dots, but I am almost certain this isn't rust... If it is rust then that means knifeworks sold me a fake knife [which i'm pretty positive this is a real knife, because i checked for authenticity].

Maybe it's patina.
I've never heard of a red patina.

Red dots on the blade sounds like rust, why would it be a fake blade if it is rusting?

Could be rust. Bead blasted surfaces will rust more easily than shiny surface areas.

Out of curiosity, of what alloy is the blade made?

Why would the knife be fake if it showed some rust?

We need much more information. What knife, what metal, what weather conditions. If the knife just arrived from Louisiana (to where?) it may have had some dampness on the surface, although many of my knives arrive with a light protectant on the blade.

In that case, oil, rub off the red spots which are likely small patches of rust, and oil lightly again. Food grade mineral oil is cheap and very effective. Problem solved.

I guess it could be rust and not be fake... I dont know what I was thinking. Still drunk from last night I guess when I wrote that.

I got it pretty clean now, thanks guys. Also, just wondering does anyone know of a good place to get knives sharpened in Columbus and could anyone recommend their favorite sharpening method. I know a stone works best, but I don't have the skill to use it correctly quite yet... so any "simple" method except those handheld sharpeners would be appreciated. I was thinking of buying this one:

what do you think of it? I really appreciate all this help [I know I'm a knife noob].
