It's actually not a scrimshaw knife. It's one of the many with a tang stamp of "SCHRADE+ LTD", if Im not mistaken. Don't know if maybe it was an SFO at some point or what. But the scales are actually a bright white rather than the faux ivory of the scrimshaws. I have also seen gray and maroon. I honestly don't see them come up often.

You can see them here in this admittedly poor picture.

DaveT - Congrats on a Sweet Group!!

Question - the 2nd and 3rd from the right - Are those Old Timer shields on 7OT's?

Howie,
Yes, they are both 7OTs, one with green saw cut and the other with black sawcut delrin handles and OLD TIMER shields.

DaveT - Very Cool  Don't remember seeing them before.
I really like the big lockbacks and will definitely add them to my watchlist.

I doubt these are true "one-offs", and there may be more out there. But given the seller I bought all the "odd" ones from, I would venture to say they came from the Schrade auction, and may well be "end-of-days" knives. Tossed together with stuff left in the factory.

DaveT - Couple more questions on that group of steel and I'll stop buggin ya

I like the maroon and grey also!

So - to the left of those - is that the micarta handle material, ya think?
LTD tang stamps on those 3?

Howie

Dave the one second to last on the right end is that green derlin handles? Very cool I have always had a thing for the green handle old timers if so can you post a close up or a closer up of that one if you get a chance very cool set my friend- Joel

Delmas, don't confuse the number of pins on the scrim and SFO stamped knives (ie most of the odd colored ones) with the method of dating on the LB7's and 7OT's. Unlike those knives, the hot stamped handles were only done with the three pin configuration for a short time before they went back to four for good. I think the heat generated from the stamping process was too much for the three pinners, likely warped the end of the handle.

Dave, nice collection!

Joel,
The green handled one is definitely the same sawcut delrin as the standard 7OT, just green. I will have to try to dig that out in the next couple days to get a better pic for you.

Howie,
I think the only two that are actually micarta rather than delrin are the dark maroon one with the nickel silver bolsters and the first black one from the left with the shiny NS bolsters. I think the other black one is delrin.
