Just got my new Zaan, and I'm surprised how not sharp it is. Won't even scrape hair;(

Is this normal? I'll stripe it to see if it gets better, just not like the sebs have been.

my S35vn sebenza 21 was not impressive sharp from factory but it had a decent enough edge to cut up some cardboard

I picked one up that was one of the sharpest CRKs I have picked up to date...maybe someone overlooked the final sharpening process? I'm sure you don't want to be without your new knife...but...I'd either return it to the dealer or send it to CRK for examination. If it's their fault they might even pick up the shippipng to them.

If you're just ok at shapening I'd sent your knife to Richard J here @ BF. He's been sharpening knives for 22 years so I think he knows what he's doing.

He only charges $1 an inch which very reasonable. Richard has my Tanto Zaan now....making the tip I screwed up into a drop point with a v grind instead of

the convex edge it came with. He said he'd only charge me return shipping but I couldn't let him do that. He's sharpened a few knives for me and made a convex into

a v grind on another knife.

Lot of guys here on BF send their knives to Richard j.

^^^^ Richard does nice work for good prices if you don't want to take it on yourself. However, I just sharpened my zaan and it wasn't bad at all. I was a little nervous the first time a sharpened a CRK, just take your time! I would also tape the blade to prevent scratching it, I learned that the hard way:D
All of my CRK knives have been at least sharp from the factory, though they range from "screaming" sharp to shaving sharp. You might have gotten an oversight.
