On the season premiere of Sons of Anarchy, the FX network show about gun running bikers, on of the main characters uses a 110 to carve the "A" anarchy symbol in a dead guys chest as a warning to another biker gang.

Yuk! :barf:

Yeahl, that's crap. They shoulda used a Harley Davidson boot knife or one of those Dork Ops tacticool knives.

I saw that Bear. But I could not tell what kind is was.
It did look like a 110 , now that I think about it.

ooouuuuu dark ops !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
jest jokeing guys .. i recall that mall nija thread also BUT

well i seen their display at the shot show
handled several knives and like .... gee wizz
belive it or not they have some good knives!
several usa made and reasonable also..
but it was a funny thread !

I will give them one thing, there is somewhat of a "history" with 110's and bikers, so if it hadn't been so gruesome, it would have been cool.

I've noticed they carry a lot of Ka-Bar's also.

Unfortunatly back in the early 80's, I saw an add in one of the Iron Horse magazines calling Buck the "official" biker's knife. Every billy biker and Harley wannabe had one on the hip.

I like the show. I did watch that one and missed the Buck in hand...must be getting old;)

It's real fast, it almost appears that he draws it from one of the "quick draw" sheaths, that partially opens the blade for you, then he thumbs it open and then it moves out of the camera shot, so you don't actually see it "carving"...

I thought the scene was cool. :o

Heck, he thought the guy he was carving up had killed his wife, right?
So, given the situation, the response was appropriate IMO.

For a fictional TV show. ;)

Yes, The club members told O P that that guy killed his wife. But His own club members Killed her.Thought she was him.
Got to go it's coming on TV

I'm surprised that one of our West Coast members who is a biker (and a member of a club) and who also collects Bucks hasn't chimed in here...

But I do have a question...I'm reading a book about Cuba and Castro's ascension to power...and his aborted coup which led to his imprisonment in 1953...and one of the people involved states he has a Buck knife purchased in a Cuban sporting goods store in Havana, in 1953...

Was Buck actually selling knives in 1953??? Or is this a lapse on the part of the participant???

yes there was a Buck Knife company in 1953 ( a very good year)
and they were sold mail order to any location
now as to if any were sent to cuba i dont know
only that it is as possible there as it was in maine or canada

Wasn't there a lot of trade and tourism between the USA and Cuba in the 50's?

I could easily see one being ordered by mail back then.

Yes, there was even talk (or so I've read) about Cuba being the 51st state...(This was under Batista...Castro came shortly after)... ;)

It was simply described as a "big sporting goods store" that sold outdoor camping stuff...I was only 3-4 years old in '53, so I don't know if there was a Cabelas or Dick's or whatever in Cuba...but as it's only 90 miles from Miami, and there were regular ferry flights/cruises for the gambling, shows, hunting, and anything else, I suppose it's possible that a large store would stock Buck knives...but what would have been available back then???

Hemingway was in Cuba in '53...I should probably try to find an account of his adventures on the island...
