Not so new design

I was playing around with my CAD software trying to come up with a new knife design. Working only from what I thought was my imagination and the fact that I wanted a folder with either a frame or liner lock and a 3.5-4 inch blade. Well this is what I came up with.

It looks oddly familiar to me and I have an idea of what I copied subconsciously, but I wanted to see what other people in the general forum thought it looked like.

Pipe in and say what you think I may have inadvertently copied, if I get the same thing I am thinking I am not going to make it because I don't want to copy someone's knives, I want to make my own. Its ok to be influenced but not copy.

Thats what I was thinking too, time to go back to the drawing board. Being zoomed in and tweaking the the control points I didn't see it till I zoomed back out. Once I saw the complete drawing the first thing I thought was that looks a lot like a Sebenza. Its not like i was going to try make a bunch to sell or anything just one or two for myself. the big difference is the material I had planned on using, I was going with a piece of pattern welded steel ti liners and G10 scales if I went with the liner lock. I just don't think that will change it enough to make a difference. I have to mull this over some more

I think that if you realized that design it wouldn't look as similar to a Sebenza as it does now. I can't explain why I feel that way though. :o

That's definitely a sebenza :P

If you make some adjustments to your design and if you can get a hold of mr. Reeves, , I'm sure he would be flattered (as long as you don't sell any).

The majority of people seem to think it looks simular to a Sebenza as do I, but with the other thoughts it leads me to believe that it may be far enough removed that I can make it with a clear conscious, that this is only influenced by Chris Reeves and not copied. I may mock up a 3D version to see how that looks from different angles. In the long run there isn't an infinite number of designs out there with out stepping into the realm of fantasy knives or something that just doesn't work, and sooner or later there are going to be designs look similar to the really good knives out there.
I am going to leave this open for a couple more days just to see what some more people think then close it.

I think there is a point where everything has been made already and it's harder to design something that hasn't been done before.
