So I am not normally over in this neck of the forums, but today I got to see something pretty neat that I had never seen before. Don't even know what it is called, but it is awesome.

Ummm, Yea that's a pretty special piece right there. I want it. :p:thumbup:

info please :eek:there seems to be a number 5 on that. The freya, now this, so many surprises, must know more !

Yeah, no idea what this thing is called. Number five of twelve according to the manager we talked to.

An asking price of 5 g's made it a wee bit out of my price range. The Jeep I drove there isn't worth that.

It appears to be something Chris Reeves made....I think I see his mark near the guard.....that is cool that he made a few....he likes to use African words for his names so maybe it is "Mkali Kitu" which is 'sharp thing' in Swahili....lol

Oh it was a CRK, make no mistakes, that thing was legit, or one hell of a fake.

That is a one piece sword....I cant remember what it was called exactly, but I know there are a few out there. I believe they date back to when CRKs were just shipping into USA.

He doesn't use "African words" randomly. He uses Zulu, having grown up in KwaZulu-Natal Province.

How intriguing. That appears to be the same one in the pic. (I'm gonna copy it here for reference with some of the info from that post)

Here's something that I had no idea existed until last weekend, the CR Broadsword. Apparently a survival sword, as the pommell unscrews and there is enough room in the handle for a good number of things, including possibly some tequila if you use the cap as a shot glass.

16" x .360" Blade.
2-1/8" Wide.
17-1/2" Tip to Guard.
27-1/4" OAL!!
4lbs, 3.4oz. One single piece of steel.
6" x 1-3/16" inside hollow handle...big enough for lots of gear!
Marked "South Africa" on reverse side.

Yes, that's my Sinn for size reference.

Here's some info straight from Anne Reeve (from 1998):

We made 11 "broad swords" back in 1987 while we were still in South Africa. Ten were double edged and one had a Sable styled blade. Blackjack sold them into the retail market at a huge markup and they now trade (infrequently as best we know) in the region of $2500 a piece. I seriously doubt that Chris would make any more....!

Anyway, hope you enjoy this as much as I had!

As far as the price, I don't know if that was a joke or what, didn't really pursue it that much. I will say that it was a fine example of a single piece short sword.

I've seen that piece at New Graham too. When I was in there last week or so, Mike said he'd sold it.

Prof.

A sword made by CRK? I think we've discovered the end all be all of zombie apocalypse weapons.
But on a serious note, Mr Reeve's obsession with perfection would be a wonderful sight to behold in so large a blade. Wonder where the other swords are.
