Not sure about fake?

I just, and I mean just got a manix 2 xl, and I have a few issues with it. The lock is clicky and stiff, and with all the fakes out there, I'm a little bit terrified that mine is a fake. Any hints on how to tell? It was a gift, ordered off of Amazon. Also, I have no idea how to post photos.

Also, just realized that on one side the tip is ground a bit more than it is on the other side.

Photos are the best way to tell.
Open up a (free) photohosting site such as Photobucket or Imgur. Upload the photos, then copy and paste the IMG links.

I've only ever handled the regular sized Manixs, but the locks can be kind of stiff when new. Is that the only thing that makes you think it's fake?

The insert looks legit to me. I have an S110v Manix ordered from Blade HQ a few months ago and that is what came with mine. Same with my other Spydies. Believe only sprints have a different insert. If the purchase was from the auction site I might worry. That's not what you have, so I am guessing you are okay. Lockup should break in.

I've got an Manix 2 XL. Looks legit to me. My lock was a little rough a first....ok, as I try it, it's still a bit rough when disengaging. Doesn't seem to be a problem. Spring on the ball lock is 'firm', I like that. I think you are probably OK.

Great knife. A bit large for EDC, but make a nice utility blade.

Looks legit. In my experience adjusting your grip can help some also leaving the knife opened half way (not locked open) overnight every night till it loosens up.

Aren't you the same guy with the problem Military? You sure are unlucky. Send them in the Spyderco.

Looks like a fine knife. Use it and the stiffness will go away. Any minor differences in the edge will sharpen away with time. It's a tool :)
