I wouldn't hold my breath on that. Pick up a Kopa if you are interested in the general design, it's the closest thing available.

Yes, it was out on Thursday. Great knife, I like it more than I thought after reading the reviews. It's like a larger size Cat, but with a thinner blade.

Given the current trend toward legislation prohibiting or severely restricting the carry of locking folders, a SlipIt Chaparral can't be ruled out. However, three things lead me to believe it won't happen soon. For one thing, Spyderco's stated intent is for the Chaparral to be a platform for showcasing handle materials and possibly steels. Plus, they already have a SlipIt Native in the planning stage. I'd also give a higher probability to a SlipIt Sage appearing prior to a SlipIt Chaparral, since the Sage series is Spyderco's showcase for locks. If you want a bone handled SlipIt, you might also want to consider having an Urban or UKPK customized.

The reason I mentioned SLIPIT is that I am really in to traditionals. 3 5/8" is considered by many the ideal slip joint length, and the bone handles are traditional too. Although, traditionals are now made with all types of handle materials, so any number of options could be considered. Spyderco might get a lot of sales from guys like me. Also, I am left handed........

I already have several Spydies and love the brand. My last purchase was a green urban soon after they came out. I have 5 or 6 others, all locking.

In general, I believe a Spydie SLIPIT with a traditional profile would open a lot of possibilities to a company with such a great reputation. They just have to make adjustments for the hole.
