there is currently a listing for a heavily used 940 (not sure whether i am allowed to post links to the auction around here) for 100€ / 106$ on the german bay...
the blade has scratch marks on it and most certainly needs to be resharpened, though i don't see any breakouts. handle is scratched and dinged in several placce and the thumbstud is missing (which is actually a good thing, as i would have had to remove it anyways...).
i am kinda itching to pull the trigger on this one and carry it as an edc, i just don't know about the price and the condition...

Why dont you buy one from the exchange on here then? At least you know where it's coming from, and can see pics, interact with the seller, etc.

I've seen them sell for as low as $105 (when I bought mine) up to $160 in like new condition. Well below MSRP price.

hmmm, worth a thought... should be about the same with import taxes and exchange rate... haven't seen such low priced one though. i really like the look of the 940. :)

My 940 is my favorite EDC especially after adding custom G-10 scales from ( doat ) here on the forum, he does great work.

Well, since all the cheaper 940s on the exchange are conus only I bit the bullet. 90€ plus shipping. I will post pictures once it arrives, the seller mentioned that it looks nicer in reality.

Alright, my first benchmade arrived!
It is actually in a pretty good shape, blade is a little off center and has just a little left right play (tightening the axis screw solved this almost completely).
A lot of scratches on the blade and a few on the handle but it is completely alright and exactly as described and pictured.
And I think I know why it was sold... Just a guess, but the edge is completely dull. I guess the previous owner didn't manage to sharpen it after continuous use. Just a guess. I just hope he didn't take it to a grinding wheel and overheated it. But I doubt it.
Also the blade has at least 45+ inclusive so a bit of regrinding needed.

They apparently took the thumb studs off to sharpen it, and didn't put them back. A call to Benchmade can probably get new ones sent your way.

no, you are totally right, in germany knives can be either one hand opening or self locking but not both at the same time (go figure). so, that suits me well. i might fill it up with a glow spot.
so far i like the knife very much, it's easy to carry, provides a good grip and the blade config is great. really good investment. only problem was that it waws kind of a tedious task to take the edge to a 40° incl. with the lansky :D ah, time to invest in some whetstones :D
