Not sure if Tighe Stick is the ugliest Spydeco ever?

It reminded me of the infamous Gunting but just uglier...

I know there are many people love the look of this knife but I have to admit that if it weren't made by Spyderco I must think it is a joke knife.

No doubt it's appearance is polarizing.

Not sure if you're trying to start a troll/bash thread or what.

I actually think it's pretty cool. I don't have a practical use for it, but I like all that went into it.

Honestly, the only thing that makes it "ugly" is the Spydie hole.

If it weren't for that, I'd say it'd be a pretty sexy knife.

I really can't add anymore than that.

I've often looked at this one and went "huh"

Hideous, yes. Idiosyncratic and highly original, yes. Daring in its execution, absolutely.

I would certainly not buy one but I appreciate Spyderco's appetite for risk. They are willing to spend R&D and production costs to bring us a wide variety of innovative designs. While I might hate 90% of them, the 10% I don't hate I totally love. And everyone's 10% is different. Win.

I agree with ChrisKnife's assessment (obviously beauty is in the eyes of the beholder). Take the spydie hole off and you have a very curvaceous and attractive Persian style blade. There are a number of other makers out there with comparable designs (Kizer's Pinkerton Nomad for example). But I am not a flipper fan and greatly prefer spydie hole openers, so Spyderco's unique take on many designs is how to integrate the hole opener into any (and nearly every) design. This achieves that, I am sure. But there are enough other high priority purchases, so this one will just be eye-candy for me!

Nothing appeals to everyone, nothing. The Tighe Stick is not my cup of tea, but then very few of the numerous custom collaborations Spyderco has done over the past 26 year have appealed to me. I can think of a few others I find even less attractive (Breeden Captain, for example). Yes, the Thghe Stick vaguely resembles the Gunting which, in turn, vaguely resembled the Jot Singh Khalsa. But then, most any new knife will bear some resemblance to one or more older knives.

Yup, grind off that hump and pop a thumb stud directly in the middle of that bug and it's a winner.
Unfortunately at market price I won't be performing that particular experiment.

Just get one straight from Brian; he doesn't put the hole in ones he makes at home and it looks like he likes thumb studs.

I'd buy it if the blade was over 5" long. Big ugly knives are good.

The pronounced blade hump (with Spydie hole) disrupts the aesthetic. The Vallotton has this problem as well. As do other models.

Not at all ugly to me. My first reaction is "badass slick." I'll betya it opens like greased lightning.

It's certainly odd, but I wouldn't say it's uglier than the Gunting. I'm not sure that would be possible, actually.

Oversized holes fuglifies them. The fugliest is the Jot Singh Khalsa!

I was going to say that the collab with Massad Ayoob wins the fugly contest but damn, it looks downright sexy compared the one Ramzar posted!!!

It is unusual. But I think the blade shape would be much more useful then you think. I often use a tanto for work, using the straight forward edge for scrapping, etc. This one looks like a tanto slept with a skinner.
