Not sure of forum... but need info on lanyard making

Does anyone have a good source for lanyard making? I've picked up a couple nice fixed blade knives that don't have lanyards and I do like that feature. Not sure I want to pay $3-5 for a lanyard if I can do it myself and put some of my own personality in it.

If not... then can anyone recommend someone who makes decent lanyards and website or link.

Thanks.

Here is a great site that I have recommended to people who have just started making lanyards. Use paracord with the inner strands removed.

Holy moly, I had yet to scroll down to where I could read your reply, and I was trying to remember the name of that website, and then BAM!, there you had already recommended it!

Wow! I don't know where I first learned of his website, or how long ago I did, but I go there every once in a while to refresh my memory of some of that stuff. It's a great site!

Ya beat me to the punch! :p

Hey, thanks. I thought I'd never find that page on wrapping a knife handle again.

I've seen Chris Reeve's instructions on how to tie the kind of lanyard that his knives come with, and unless it's been changed, I disagree with it. He essentially offers steps to tying a regular ol' hangman's noose.

Rather than using that one, which has a greater potential to get unraveled, I would recommend a Multiple Overhand Knot. Instructions for that are available in a number of knot books.

I guess adding a lanyard to a knife is "embellishment" (or maybe "tinkering" ... it's functional ...) so it goes in The Toolshed now. There are a lot of old threads on it in Blade Discussion, though.
