decision,decision,decision... I have around $500 to spend and cant decide if I want to get a small wheel atachment and the small wheels for my KGM grinder, or if I should get a JET metal cutting band saw. I have a plasma torch I use to cut out my blanks, but I think a band saw would be nice. I have a 1 HP motor with a chuck and diffrent sizes of mandrels that I use insteed of a small wheel atachment. If you had to pick one what would you get?

I hate rough profling more than any other step in the process...i asked for a bandsaw for xmas. However, with the sculpting I usually do on handles, a small wheel or serrated 2" contact for my platen would be suhweet.....

I had two full days on the KMG yesterday and today. Man, that was the best money I ever spent.:)

Maybe get both:

Harbor Freight's flyer list their 4x6 bandsaw (item # 37151) as on sale for $169.99 at retail stores until December 19.

If you are on their e-mailing list, you get a coupon for 20% off and its good for on SALE items.

Regards,
Greg

Hands down; KMG all the way. Band saws are easy by comparison. Get the KMG attachment while its in your pocket now. No brainer for sure. (I still like my ol'Coote though and don't have what it takes to swing a KMG - yet) I have the Harbor freight 'wonder saw' mentioned above. It is great for cutting to length and will do for profiling, very coursely. Priority dictates KMG now while you got it.

Id go for the band saw, the amount of time and belts you use to profile your blades after using a plasma has got to be a pain.Sell the plasma cutter and get your small wheel attachment.:) :)

AK Knives, have you been able to see the Jet "up close"?. Is it built any different than the cheaper Harbor Freight saw? Cheapest I saw the Jet was $258.

My "creative financing" solution: buy both and put them on the charge card. Pay $250 the first month, and $250 the second. Save all your extra singles and change and by the third month you'll have the balance.

Did I mention that I love tools? :D :D
