Not that I'll get one any time soon because my 710 does just fine, but I have it narrowed down to three I think.

1. Benchmade Red 960.

2. Spyderco Military.

3. Kershaw Leek.

I have read a fairly in depth thread about the Leek and the different types of blades it uses, so I'm not sure what one I will get yet. I'd prefer at least S30V and I can't remember if the G10 version is the only one that comes with that or not.

The Military and 960 just look nice to me, and they are made of good materials so I'm sure they're great knives.

Which would you go with first? I was thinking possibly the Leek since I already have a large folder, and it's cheaper than the others.

I've had the leek and the 960 (in red and silver). I preferred the 960's axis lock (plus being a lefty, it was a no brainer). I have looked at the military over and over though.

Tough decision, all 3 are fine knives. Good luck.

If you can get the Military with the BG-42 steel and carbon fiber slabs, then do it! I just got one not too long ago and it's a great knife, however, at the same time I also got the Para-Military with S30V steel and I am just as impressed with it as the Military and it is a bit smaller and fits in my pocket better (The Military I carry horizontal in a Blade-Tech sheath).

I carry a Military fairly regularly but it is a BIG knife. My S30V Leek is the best, though. It is a neat little knife with a lot of blade. It's very ergonomic, the action is fast, the lockup is tight. For ordinary, everyday carry in a non-tactical environment, I'd say it's a winner.

I got the original polished G-10, which is beautiful. I think they came out with a rough surface for a few dollars less later.

I handled a Para-Military the other day and was not impressed. The craftsmanship was fantastic and the blade was scary-nice, but I had trouble with the locking system. Maybe it was just the specimen I held, but it was extremely hard to flick open or closed. Almost girtty. Anyone else have this problem?
